Jim McKee wrote a brief historical sketch of Orleans, Nebraska for the Lincoln Journal Star on March 23, 2017, "Orleans had a college, too was a county seat."
The Free Methodist College was founded inward Orleans equally a seminary inward 1884. It operated equally a college from 1887-1893 too is considered equally a predecessor for what became Central Christian College inward McPherson, KS. An establishment affiliated amongst Methodist Episcopal Church used the Orleans buildings from 1893-1897 when holding reverted to the Free Methodist Church. The buildings were razed inward 1914.
